With low inventory and multiple bidding wars, buyers looking for a new home can feel as if it’s never going to happen. Especially after searching for weeks at a time. It can be even more frightening for those who have a deadline to move – the end of a lease, a closing on their existing home, a job relocation, etc.
Our advice, (though it’s easier said than done) is please, don’t panic. There will always be a place to live. It might require some flexibility or creativity figuring out a last-minute housing option, but together you and your agent will figure it out.
Most real estate agents are experienced in helping buyers navigate these sorts of housing woes.
The biggest benefit to not panicking is avoiding impulsive – and perhaps wrong – decisions about your future home. You’ll be much better off accepting a temporary and perhaps less-than-perfect home in the short term than committing yourself to one that is not in your ideal location, smaller than you wanted, or, worst of all, a financial stretch for your family.
Take a deep breath and be patient. Your real estate agent is there to help you and won’t let you make the wrong decision.
